Netgear EX3110 Setup

On this page, you’ll find information on how to set up a Netgear EX3110 WiFi extender with the existing network. A wireless range extender helps you boost the network and expand the WiFi coverage range to the areas with no network. The extender connects to the main router or access point and further extends the existing network from the router or access point. Learn on this page how to connect the extender to the router.

How to Set Up Netgear EX3110?

EX3110 is one of the best dual-band WiFi extenders by Netgear. The Netgear WiFi extender setup process is very simple. By reading the upcoming sections and taking help from the instructions, you can easily configure the extender at your home.
We will provide you with instructions for two ways for Netgear EX3110 setup.

Extender Installation Through WPS

To use this method, there’s only one condition that your main router or access point should support WPS. Check that it has the WPS button available on it. Some routers have the option of using the WPS button in the web interface. That means you should log in and then use the WPS function. These are the steps to be followed:

  • Have the Netgear extender placed closer to the main router or Access Point. The proximity is necessary during the connection process. Later on, once the setup is completed, you can shift the extender to another place.
  • Supply power to both devices and let them completely power up.
  • The Power LED on the extender should turn green. If it doesn’t, press the Power on/off button.
  • Now, press the WPS button on the extender. The WPS LED should blink.

  • Within the time span of two minutes, press the WPS button on your router. You can also log in and press the WPS button in the interface.
  • When the connection is established, the WPS LED turns solid green and the Router LED turns on.
  • If you wish to connect the second network band too, i.e. 5 GHz, then repeat the same steps (pressing the buttons on devices).
  • Wait for some time and let the devices connect.
  • You can now unplug the extender from this place and relocate it.
  • Plug the extender into another socket and use the Router LED to choose an adequate location for the extender. The light should turn green or amber if the spot that you chose is optimal.
  • Otherwise, move the extender a little closer to the router.

Now, you can connect to your Netgear EX3110 extender WiFi. Your extender will have two WiFi names or SSIDs for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz network bands. It will add extensions after your router’s network name as:
RouterNetworkName_2GEXT
RouterNetworkName_5GEXT
Assuming that your router’s network name is RouterNetworkName.
The WiFi password will be the same as the router’s WiFi password. Join the network and test the internet connection. This completes new extender setup via WPS.

Netgear EX3110 Setup Using Installation Assistant

  • The extender needs to be placed close to the router during the installation process.
  • Supply power to the devices and let the Power LED on the extender turn solid green.
  • If you are configuring the extender in the AP mode then run a LAN cable from the extender to the router.
  • If the mode is extender mode, then let the devices connect wirelessly.
  • Now, join the extender’s network on a computer or laptop. Select the extender’s default SSID which is Netgear_EXT. The Device LED should turn on.
  • Now, load up an internet browser and visit mywifiext.net.
  • The Netgear installation assistant will appear on the screen.
  • Create WiFi names and password for the extender network.
  • Also assign an admin password to log into the extender.
  • Unplug the extender and move it to a new place that should be halfway between the router and the area with poor signals from the router.
  • Plug in the extender and wait till the Power LED turns green. Observe the Router LED and choose an appropriate location for your extender. The light should be green or amber. Try different locations and select the ideal one.

You should now connect to the extender’s network using the newly created WiFi names and password and test the WiFi network.
